The top picture is the quarry we stopped as we saw it from the road. Remember our discussion of the nature of the lithology and bedding we saw from that distance? And when we looked up close we pretty much saw what we expected, large blocky micrite with interbedded shales. For the most part the micrite was massive with conchoidal fracture, but we also saw some micrograded bedding.
The picture to the right shows these features, and also the color of the rock on a freshly broken surface.
