Want to see an example of a sedimentary rock, and you know its name (or all you know is its name)? This is the place. The specimens vary a lot in their quality. We did not try to find the best, most pristine examples available. Instead we looked for representative specimens, many of which just came out of study trays. Also, many of the images come from outcrops so you can see what the rocks look like in their natural setting.
And, because many rocks vary widely in their appearance we are, over time, going to add as many different examples of a type as we can find.
The page is organized by the various classification systems.
