Paleogeographic Map Showing the Continental Edge During the Cambrian and Early Ordovician
NE-SW trending double red lines are rift boundaries. NW-SE trending single lines are transform faults where the two continents slid past each other as they rifted. Note how irregular the continental margin is with sharp promontories sticking out and reentrants. These will play important parts in later geologic events.
