Color and Luster: Lead-gray; tarnish black, sometimes iridescent; metallic; streak dark lead-gray

Cleavage: Perfect in lengthwise direction

Fracture: Uneven, brittle, slightly sectile

Crystals: Orthorhombic; stout to slender, striated lengthwise; often bent or twisted; also bladed, in radiated groups, columnar masses, granular
