Sub Metallic                             Almost metallic reflection

Subadamantine                        Not quite adamantine in luster

Vitreous (Glassy)                     Luster of broken glass

Waxy                                       Fairly dull luster similar to wax

Asterisms                                Tiny inclusions within the mineral

Chatoyant                                Numerous hair-like inclusions aligned to produce "catseye" figure

Opalescence                            Milky white color

Pearly                                      Formed by numerous partly-developed cleavages

Play of colors                          Gem like reflection, multiple colors seen best in opal

Silky                                        Noticeable shiny direction
