History of a Foreland Basin
![]() At stage II the collision has just begun, the mountain is beginning to rise, and the foreland basin is beginning it rapid initial subsidence. Environmentally the change is from a shallow carbonate shelf to a deep shelf slowly accumulating black shales. |
