History of a Foreland Basin
Basin subsidence is now very slow and the mountains are at their maximum height. The large influx of sediments builds a clastic wedge out into the basin. The submarine fan is large, but toward the foreland enough sediment has come in to shallow the basin up to a shelf environment fed by rivers at the base of the mountain. On to Stage V.
