I have not ordered a formal lecture text book for this class. There are a couple of vertebrate paleontology text books available, including ones focused on dinosaurs, but they are expensive and do not fit with some of the topics we will study, or the way we will study them. Therefore, only the two JMU Copy Center books above are required.
The Lecture Notebook contains all (or most, I keep creating new ones) handouts, diagrams, charts, tables, etc. used in lecture. The Lecture Notebook is available in the bookstore and will be used in class all semster. You will not get though the class without it. Bring it to class every day.
Also required is the Handbook, purchased from the JMU copy center. It contains descriptions of a lot more skeletons and skulls than we will study, but is a good reference to the vertebrate skeleton.
And finally, because there is no formal text, good note taking is essential. It is very hard to miss classes and get through the class well. Find a good partner whose academic abilities you trust to exchange notes with if you do have to miss class.
