Composition
Calcite - CaCO3, formed into small pearl-like spheres, constructed as concentric layers. This is a chemical rocks, precipitated from warm, supersaturated marine water.
Description
A pure oolitic (white, rounded grains) limestone with spar cement (transparent clear to slightly gray areas). In some of the broken oolites we can see the seed, and the concentric layers by which the oolite was built.
In this image it is easier to see the spar cement binding the oolites together. It almost looks like the clear glue used to make models.
