Typical Minerals
Typical MineralsPLAGIOCLASE - 50-100%
Orthoclase - 10-35%
Mafics - < 10%
Quartz - 0-5%
Detail Description
The crystals are small enough in this specimen that even with this closeup it is hard to distinguish much. Some pink orthoclase is visible, but the light minerals are a mixture of quartz and plagioclase. It would take a microscope to identify minerals well, but the quartz is less than 20%, taking this rock out of the granite category.
