     This lousy outcrop above right is what we saw of the Rose Hill, although in the float we got to see a lot of the sedimentary structures that characterize this formtion. Such as the load structures and mud pebbles (now weathered out) to the right. We also saw trace fossils, and ripples. Further up the outcrop were examples of flaser/wavy/lenticular bedding.
     The Rose Hill is typically a deep red to purple red formation, although the sandstones are virtually all quartz. The red is mostly just a stain that coats the sand grains. The purple red is also a way of distinguishing this formation from the Juniata, also a quartz rich red sandstone.
